Bright plum and berry fruit aromas. The palate is rich and welcoming with ripe cassis and bramble characters and soft, approachable tannins on the finish. A consistent favourite with our customers, it's perfect as a "house red" or for weddings and events. If there's a more enjoyable and complete wine available anywhere for so little money we've yet to find it!

Bodegas Borsao was establised in 2001 and is a collection of three of the most progressive co-operative cellars in the Campo de Borja zone southeast of Rioja. Grapes come from 620 member growers covering 2,500 hectares, nearly a third of the region's total. Vineyards lie in the undulating foothills of the Moncayo mountain, up to 700m above sea level. In this rather severe and arid climate, with hot dry days and cool nights, Garnacha thrives and represents 70% of total production. They are as recognised for their entry level varietals - as outstanding examples of easy-to-drink inexpensive wines - as they are for their premium wines, in particular the iconic, multi award winning Tres Picos.
From Garnacha grown on poor, stony soils in the foothills of the Moncayo mountain, harvested in the first half of October - with a small proportion of Tempranillo added.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 22 and 26C with 7 to 12 days maceration.
Drink with slow-cooked belly pork, or perhaps chorizo with chickpeas as recommended by Sommelier Wine Awards judge Martin Lam.
